Can I get a second job (with my current employer's permission) if it is non teaching? Also it would be in a different city.

Yes PROVIDED the new employer can legally hire you.

Just file the appropriate paperwork with immigration.

What would prohibit a company from hiring me? It is a writing job.

Not being registered as a company, not having done the labor board requirements for hiring a foreigner, ... same as home when they want to hire a foreigner.

I was assuming you are on an E-visa rather than an F-visa.

There's one foreigner that posts on this site who picks up cardboard. I can't recall who it is at the moment. If you are going into the cardboard business, you might want to avoid scrounging in on his turf.

That's me!

I welcome competition, it keeps me on my toes!

The old people are no competition, they move too slowly!

We're past optimum collecting conditions now with the snow and cold weather. October is the best time. Mild weather and lots of fruit boxes ripe for the picking.

On its own, E6 - entertainer.

If you are on an E2 then simply file an "addition of workplace" application with immigration.
