I watched the trailer. The movie looks really bad. If you ask me the Norks did us all a favor by preventing its release. |

If NK gets angry when The Interview eventually leaks and we all die bc of a shitty James Franco movie I will face God and walk backwards into hell. |
Not eventually, it has leaked already. You just have to know the right place to kick the North Korean's ass. |

Yeah, turns out it was a marketing scheme bc they are releasing it online as of Christmas I believe. A clever strategy.
But I just feel like why would ppl even want to see this crap? Like... at what level is this movie funny? Most Americans don't have a clue about Korea and they really don't give a damn either... they want to see Seth Rogan Kill Koreans out of ignorance and a sick sense of humour, however I feel that 90% of the ppl on this board are a bit more clued up on the culture/history of NK.
The film isn't an act of courage. It's not a stand against totalitarianism, concentration camps, mass starvation or state-sponsored terror.
It simply trivialises one of the worst human rights violations on our planet and for those in this thread who said they really wanted to see this movie, I'd suggest you take a moment and seriously ask yourself why you'd want to support that.
Ps, Merry Christmas |

You should not criticize things you've never seen. What do you really know about it? You have not seen it but you have so much to say. Truth is you know very little about the movie and your claims to knowledge about it are sophistry at best.
Get an education.

Stan Rogers,
Listen, you may have a different opinion - if so, feel free to express it but telling me to get an education is just a dick move considering I explained why this movie was done in poor taste... I even gave a brief historical account a few pages back.
You don't have to have seen a movie to form an opinion about it's context especially when you can get opinions from friends who have seen it, the trailer, the plot etc and the fact that this is something that has actually happened, it's not some fictional stuff (which would be so easy to do btw) I haven't seen '12 Years a Slave' so it'd be wrong for me to form an opinion about how terrible slavery was right? And that slavery is not something that should be made into a comedy movie for ppl to laugh about.
Whether it's a good movie or not is subjective and I cannot make a case for this as I haven't seen it... but given the context and premise of the movie
and the fact that you and I both have more of an understanding of the Koreas and have lived within a culture where we see and feel the effects and consequences of the reality, I honestly don't see how you can like this movie in good conscience.
But yeah, freedom of speech and all that jazz. |

I'm korean so I felt the consequences of that reality more than you have. I thought the parts of the movie I've seen so far are funny. Gonna wait to see the entirety of it with other people |

I'm sure u have... I have Korean friends who have given me their take on the movie too but as I said, whether you think it's funny or not in it's form (cinematic art) is subjective. Just curious, do you think it would still be funny had they not used NK and KJU? I ask bc as a Korean, if you liked it more bc it was NK I think your response/reaction could be quite biased, no? |

Looks like American moviegoers are giving NK a one finger salute:
Quote: |
"We are taking a stand for freedom," said theater manager Lee Peterson of the Cinema Village East in Manhattan, where most of Thursday's seven screenings had sold out by early afternoon. "We want to show the world that Americans will not be told what we can or cannot watch. Personally, I am not afraid."
At Atlanta's Plaza Theater, a sell-out crowd Thursday hailed the film's release, washing down popcorn with beer and cocktails and uniting for a boisterous sing-along of "God Bless America" before the opening credits. |

I'm happy they had the spine to stand up for their rights. I expect this movie to be quite popular with many in North Korea. |

Paying for movies!!! Haha, almost shit myself laughing. You might also want
to read the fine print:
Can I purchase this from outside the US?
While we do hope to see the release of The Interview across the globe, for
the time being this is limited to the USA only. You can only purchase the
movie with a US card, and can only stream it from a US IP address. |
