I'm getting a new RCMP check done and I will use xl Id solutions
In Montreal to have it done electronically and promptly.
Any personal experiences with them/are they reliable?

Not this again, sigh............. xl ID is an accredited digital fingerprinting agency that scans and submits your fingerprints to the RCMP. RCMP receives fingerprints, runs them, and mails the RCMP record check to the address on RCMP letterhead. A couple second google search showed this.
xl ID is a "third party" just for the finger-printing, just like people who get a fingerprint check from Korea use a third-party, the Korean police force, to take their fingerprints. Nothing wrong at all with that.
As for the question, I never used this agency, but as RCMP-accreditation is quite stringent, I don't think you can go wrong. |

The RCMP want to move away from having to deal with it and are accrediting third party companies to manage the actual finger printing.
It's so much faster. Dealing directly with the RCMP was ridiculous. |

| Can't you fill out the application yourself? Is it too difficult? I mean you have a university degree right? You should be capable of doing this yourself without a third party. |

You mean fingerprint yourself? I guess you don't have a university degree, if you did you'd realize it's pretty stupid to have applicants fingerprinting themselves with no verification. RCMP won't accept them. The whole point of the "third-party" or having a police agency conduct the fingerprinting is to make sure that the fingerprints used for the application ARE ACTUALLY the applicants. It prevents fraud.

I think the law changed recently for Canadians. For those that are overseas they need to go through one of the accredited third party companies. More expensive but much quicker now.

| Should be fine, you can also get your prints scanned at the main SPVM station on Saint-Urbain. Your wait will probably be shorter at the private agency, but I don't know how the costs compare. At the SPVM it costs about $105 dollars. |

The third-party company owns a digital scanner. It can bypass the step of feeding the paper-based fingerprints into a scanner (the step that takes 3 months as there is a backlog).
So you can wait 3 days by using the "third-party" scanning equipment or wait 3-4 months for the RCMP to feed your paper-based prints into their system and cross-check your prints. |

| I'm pretty sure almost every police force in Canada has the equipment to digitally scan your prints since the RCMP only accepts digital prints for CBCs. I recently got my prints scanned at a small town RCMP station. So if you are in Canada you don't really need to use a third party, unless you don't want to wait in line at the police station. |
