Sounds like a good boss, so far. Most of the job interview is to see if you're presentable physically. The other questions mean nothing.

Anyone with a 4-year degree who's even worked at a McDonalds can teach English in Korea, as long as they are presentable.

Teachers have been known to have been left at airports on their first day after their boss or hagwon driver ditched them there.

Luckily I got a couple nights rest (1 night in a love motel) and got to observe some classes before the previous teachers went on their way.

My first breakfast was Paris Baguette bakery, some of those small Jeju mandarin-style oranges and a small paper cup of green tea.=)

Here are a few tips to help get you started:

1. Have someone in your school show you around your neighborhood.

Here they can point out some nice restaurants and different foods you can try. They can also ask locals where a nice gym, sauna, or nice activity club (martial arts, dance, etc.) might be.

2. Have someone at least translate the addresses to different markets in your neighborhood. E-Mart, Carrefour, Tesco, Costco are the major large supermarket chains here but they might still be closed every other Sunday, except maybe Costco. Then you'll have use local traditional markets.

3. You'll need to set up a bank account. Do this with only a passport.

4. As far as I know, you still can't get a phone contract until after you have your Alien Residence Card (ARC). Takes about a month to get your ARC once you land.

Ahhh, the memories. I remember my third contract. Arrived at my apartment, maybe 10:00 pm after a 24 hour itinerary. Arrived at work 2:00 pm the next day. After work, I was criticized on my lack of energy and how the kids didn't like me.[/quote]

My first year here, I arrived in Daegu after a 36 hour itinerary (east coast)
It was only 8pm, and the school was open till 10, so I got the pleasure of spending some quality time at the academy before getting a chance to see my apartment. Nothing like rolling in wearing the same clothes 2 days straight, and working on about 2 hours sleep the previous 40 hours!
