Johnny Football might actually have the skills to play pro if he could learn when to stay in the pocket and when to run. He is talented but I'm not sure if he can be molded. |
It is way too early to judge, but I'm not so sure anymore either, and I once thought he was a "can't miss" selection.
Also, he's not even 6 feet tall, and despite the success of Drew Brees and Russell Wilson, that has got to be a disadvantage.
Both Winston and Mariotta stand 6'4" by the way. |

I have to confess, I did not know who or what you were referring to, so had to look it up. Damn, I wonder how I missed this story??
Missouri Sen. McCaskill blasts Bob Stoops over DGB in op-ed
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/eye-on-college-football/24713110/missouri-sen-mccaskill-blasts-bob-stoops-over-dgb-in-op-ed
"In an op-ed piece published by USA Today onWednesday, Missouri senator Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) strongly criticized Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops for his decision to accept former Missouri wideout Dorial Green-Beckham on transfer.
Green-Beckham was dismissed in April by Gary Pinkel and the Tigers in the wake of domestic violence allegations against him -- as well as other off-field issues. The domestic violence incident did not result in charges and Green-Beckham elected to transfer to Oklahoma in July." |
He was one of the top high school players in the nation. The Tigers were lucky that he chose to stay in the state. However, he had too many scrapes with the law early on. People overlooked them because he had a fantastic sophomore year and it looked good for the following season. But the domestic violence charge was the last straw. If he gets his shit together, he'll be a superstar in the NFL. He's 6'6" tall and fast. Many sports writers were calling him the next Randy Moss. I wonder if he'll bother staying at Oklahoma next year. |

The "Sooners" should have just stayed in Norman instead of playing Clemson. |

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has won his appeal of his one-game suspension, sources told ESPN.com.
In lieu of the suspension, Suh has been fined $70,000. |

Is anyone going out to watch the Rose Bowl and/or Sugar Bowl? Are there any bars having events? I know it's pretty early in the morning. Go Ducks! |

Impressive Mariotta stat: 101 career touchdown passes, 12 interceptions. This season — 38-2. To me, that is beyond impressive - that is phenomenal.
Could be a long night for the 'Noles defense......but, and I admit I may be grasping at straws here, there is also this troublesome stat: Fumbles. Mariotta has lost 11 fumbles in his career, eight while being sacked. If he has a weakness, ball protection in the pocket is it. In Oregon's lone loss this year he was stripped of the ball which sealed the win for Arizona.
On defense, Oregon will be without All-America cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, who injured his knee during practice this month and needed season-ending surgery. Winston's favorite receiver Rashad Greene could have a field day.
This game could very well be an offensive shoot-out. |

Another impressive stat: Bo Wallace threw 3 INTs during the 42-3 loss in Peach Bowl. Should go up in the draft rankings for teams that likes INT throwing QBs: Redskins, Jets, Bears, Eagles, Giants,...
The committee was correct: TCU failed to fill the stadium, ending Peach Bowl's consecutive sellouts at 17. In a city that cheers for any team except the home team, they can't sellout the Georgia Dome? Foghorns didn't belong. $ $

On one of those INTs he threw from his own end zone right to a Horned Frog player who was also in the end zone - I have never seen a pick six quite like that before.

I have to disagree with you on that. Remember, Ole Miss handed Alabama their only loss, and were once rated as high as 3rd in the nation, yet were thoroughly embarrassed by TCU. TCU definitely made a statement. Let's see if Ohio State makes one too. |

The point I was making was: TCU didn't fill the stadium. On the field they belonged. The coaches agree that they belonged. The fans didn't bother to show up. TCU will have to work on that. When the fans vote with their bums in the seats, TCU won't be denied again. |

I knew that was the point you were trying to make, I just did not think you were being serious, as you do like to jest from time to time.
Anyway, I will grant you that Ohio State's selection over TCU and Baylor probably had a lot to do with "name brand", but that is more about "TV money" than about traveling fan bases. Pointing to their attendance at a second-tier consolation game is not really fair. When they went 13-0 and defeated Wisconsin in the 2011 Rose Bowl they sold out their ticket allotment very early. By the way, that was another time they were denied a shot at playing in the Championship game, "further fueling the controversy surrounding the perceived inequalities in the BCS". Under the BCS system, Auburn played Oregon. The final poll after the bowl games had them at #2 behind the National Champion Auburn Tigers.
Just to be clear, I have no problem with the selection of Ohio State. As I said a few pages back, someone was going to get screwed - there was no getting around that under this system. But TCU has as a legitimate claim as anyone, including all four teams who are in the semi-finals. First screwed by the BCS, and now by the CFP. |

Finally, the Fumble Bowl is over. When was the last time the 'noles waved the towel with 13:55 remaining in the game? $ $ |

Not only that, but it's a good thing for them that Oregon eased up a little at the end or it would have been even worse. |
