Is it just me or is the weather in Seoul SUPER dry this year? I have been here for several decades, but this year seems really dry. Anyone else experiencing this?
Anyone else experiencing all-day dry throat? I've even had a couple of nose bleeds. The doctors say I'm in perfect health...just that the weather's too dry. |

A humidifier (and keeping it clean) in Korea is a must have for winters. Keep it in the bedroom. |

Quite the opposite actually. I always have my lips crack and bleed in winter because of the dry air. So far it’s not happening this year. Even though the apartment where I live now is drier than the previous places. |

In terms of precip too. It goes days without any rain or snow. I've always hated the weather in Korea. Rare good weather days in the summer, and can't even do bad weather correctly. Weak typhoons, no snowstorms, no good thunderstorms, etc. Really miss the Midwest weather. |

Compared to a Canadian winter, I always found it humid and a damp cold sometimes. Some days were dry and some days were damp, especially at night. It can chill you in your bones. That said, this year has more dry weather than usual. Maybe its the el nino effect? Was more dry last summer compared to most summers here.
A dry day is a good clear day when you can actually see the mountains though the winds blow that humid air out. |

I noticed the dryness starts around the time the trees shed their leaves, which I assume to be at least partly the cause of it.

I love the clear blue skies in autumn. But yeah.. the rest of the time its just too extreme.
Either you're sweltering in unbearable humidity through the summer (skin rashes) or you're suffering cracked lips, sandpaper tongue and ulcers from the insanely dry winter air. |
