Honestly, some of the jobs I'm seeing posted these days are really too much. I saw hogwans offering 1.4 per month. Now universities (supposedly the job to get) are offering 2.1 plus a mere 300,000 for housing.

And they want all applicants to have no less than three years' uni teaching experience. All for 2.1 million won per month....before taxes and various other deductions.

2.1 isn't that bad.
I take it your other job fell through?
The cardboard season will starting up again soon. If the weather stays fine like it has been doing I may well start up again this month.
If you want to join in PM me, although you will need to buck up your attitude about elder Koreans, as you will be working around lots of them. |

I guess 2.1 sounds good to someone like yourself who is still in their teens, gets a weekly allowance from his parents, and is merely loitering on Daves pretending to be an English teacher. But to actual adults who are working here it is obvious that that pay sucks. But keep dreaming big, kiddo. Keep collecting that cardboard and maybe after you graduate high school you can apply to university. After graduation you can apply for a teaching job and maybe, just maybe, you can attain your dream of working in Korea for 2.1 million won a month. Keep dreaming big, and don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it. |

To be fair the position is advertised as "lecturer" (not professor) and it does not demand an MA. Its also only for 18 hours.
With the occasional fancy dress to masquerade as a prof. |

I could be wrong but my math has this one coming out to 1.7 a month. I can't tell if the yearly bonus is included in that figure, or if it's in addition. If it's included, that makes the monthly salary even less.

Housing: Private on-campus housing will be provided. Utilities, including electricity, water, phone, internet, and other maintenance fees, are the sole responsibility of the employee.
Vacation: Instructors will receive minimum (10) full weeks of paid time off during the school year. |

The Swell program at Seoul Women's University has consistently over many years been the lowest paying uni job out there. I don't know how they get teachers. Perhaps the foreigners there are just visa hunting so they can do more lucrative private work. You'd have to do privates considering the crap salary the uni pays.
You'd think the school would be embarrassed to put out such a horrible offer. |

That's a positive development. It's time people realised that self mutilation/decoration affects other people apart from themselves and that employers require certain standards from people dealing with the public. |
