|
|
I will be re-locating to the seoul area sometime in the next few weeks and hope to apply for a D-10 to cover me until I find work (all being well).
As I currently live in the South of Korea, will it be better to apply for the looking for work visa in my local immi. or in Seoul?. Its probably worth mentioning that Im stayng at my current residence for now as I will need a rent contract.
Any advice/experience on changing areas much appreciated.
Thanks |

Get your D10 before you relocate. They are they are typically issued by the same office that issued your ARC.

| You should get the D10 in the same place where your rental contract is (or the address on your current ARC if you state that you aren't changing address). If you try to get it in another area, they might ask for proof of where you intend to live while job hunting. In practice though, when you have the D10 you can go anywhere you want. Once you find a job, you apply for the new visa and ARC change of address at the immigration office nearest to where ever you'll be living/working (i.e. you don't need to return to the old town to do it). |

Thanks for your help.
Just one more small question if thats ok, do mean apply for the visa or actually recieve it?
I was thinking of applying for work once the visa is in process.
Thanks again. |

You can start looking for work any time you want. You can start looking before you even apply for the D10. You just can't start the process for a new E2 visa until your current one is about to expire (typically 2 weeks before) or until you have the D10 in hand. So, if you apply for a D10 and happen to find a job the next day, you'd still have to wait to receive the D10 until you can transfer it back to an E2.
If you start your job hunt before your current visa expires and you get an offer that you want to accept BEFORE your current visa expires and before you apply for the D10, you can simply transfer your current visa over to the next employer and leave out the D10 step. |
