Hello folks,

I want to stay around in Korea and self-study for a graduate school test. In the meantime, I'd like to get a student visa by taking a Korean course.

Most programs I've seen are very intensive.

Is there any program/place to take a korean class like twice a week that will provide a student visa?

Thanks for the help.

Who says you have to attend all (or any) of the classes? Do what immigrants do in Western countries. Sign up, get your visa, and don't show up.

No, there are no programs like what you seek. Getting a student visa means being a full time student.

Unless you are planning to study Korean for an extended period of time, why get a student visa? I dont know where you are from, but it would likely be much cheaper for you to just stay on a tourist visa and study Korean (you dont need to have a student visa D4 to study Korean in one of the programs)

There are many options you could possibly use to stay in the country while you study, but more information is needed. Why not just get a d-10 visa, even though you arent actually looking for work? Or otherwise just exit and reenter the country periodically? You can take a roundtrip ferry to Japan for as low as 50,000won.

The school has to contact immigration if you miss more than 20% of your classes a semester. Visa gets revoked unless you have a legitimate reason for missing classes.

Anyway, OP are you working right now? I think your best bet is to switch over to a D10 for the time being. Even if you're not looking for work, it will buy you a big chunk of time and you won't have to spend 1.5mill on a visa.

There are some Korean academies that are also able to issue a D4, but the hours won't be much less and the cost will probably be more than a university program.
