So many unis now looking for engineers at pathetic salaries. Are they getting them?

They will get two types of applicants...

1. Filipinos.

or...

2. People who have really done something to f*ck up their career back home and who are basically unemployable in their field.

Nursing is an in demand job that can command reasonably high salaries.

No way would someone leave that to work in Korea for a paltry salary.

It works out to 2.675 mil a month, but without housing, so more like 2.1 or 2.2 per month.

$32K a year (with no tiny moldy housing included) is a bad deal for a MA holder, especially for one with an MA in nursing.

Nurses in North America make big bucks.

Filipino doctors are moving to Canada to work as nurses and starting at 70K a year....

So why would you take this job?

They might also get someone who is retired from nursing and just wants to give ELT a try for a while. Or maybe someone who happens to be in Korea already for some other reason (for example, marriage --> Filipinos) but who doesn't have a good enough Korean level to get a job as a nurse yet. (Note: There's a high demand for nurses in Korea. Although the salary isn't nearly as good as in America, it's not bad.)

The other possibility is that they'll get someone who works in another health field - something not in demand.

Perhaps they will get a former nurse who does not have time to work F/T. ie busy raising a family.

But even then the hours (24) are excessive for what they're paying.

I think the best chance is someone retiring from a uni in the States or England and collecting a pension. Take this job.

Thomas Uni in southern China is offering double the salary for the same position.

I was the KEYS unis, I made 20% for less time.
