Even the documentaries on scary foreign dudes tend to focus somewhat explicitly on English teachers. The next time I see any of this stuff directed at engineers and MBAs will be the first.

They'll be banned from that bar too and they'll be lumped in anyway. It's racial discrimination; it's not like they ask to see your diploma before they make up their minds on you. Sure, it may have focused on English teachers as the obvious scapegoats, but the larger effect was to stereotype based on race. It worked.

Let's go back to the original post I was responding to, rather than continuing to quote me out of context:

The bigger issue is the whole slanted system in this country. Foreign men are sidelined and discriminated against 24-7/365. That is where the aggression, frustration and fights come from. The media lies about and demonizes them, bosses fire or refuse to hire them; in legal matters they are disadvantaged. I've never encountered a country where the local males are this scared of competition from foreign men.

Chappy is looking at things through the lens of an EFL instructor and only through that lens, evidenced by the fact that he talks about men's jobs being taken by women. I guarantee you that there is only one industry on the entire peninsula where this is a problem.

In the end, they're doing you a favor and only hurting themselves. A trip to the nightclub is an unnecessary expense. Instead of giving those guys your money, you'll still have it and will be able to utilize the capital when you return to your homeland.

I disagree. I think in any industry, with all other things being equal, Korean men would rather hire a foreign female than a foreign male.
