I'm out of Korea but have been trying to find this for awhile now.
It's a textbook series dealing with American English, not just a single book, with 'American' in the title.
If somebody can give an idea of what I'm looking for and could give the publisher, author then that would be great.

The book title 'American Headway' came to me. I used this book 10 years or so ago with success.
I'll take a look at it and confirm.
Thanks previous poster, I'll check that one out. |

A while back, someone posted a series of American and/or British cursing slang. I can't remember the name of the book, but I thought 'what a cool topic to teach' - I'm sure uni students in a conversation hagwon wouldn't mind taking a class like that. I think it'd be a lot of fun. Definitely get some stress out having students yell "Puck you mother pucker!" in class.
I can see the advertisement now:
"Learn how to curse like a westerner. Never feel belittled again while traveling overseas. Now you too can dish it out to those lazy Americans at Wal Mart" |

What age levels?
There are different series for all levels from all the major publishers:
Oxford University Press
Cambridge University Press
Pearson/Longman
Macmillian
and others.
There are also a lot of different series for young learners from Asian publishers that deal with "American English". |

Tom I'm surprised by your suggestion that narrowly focuses only on foreign textbook publishers.
What's the fascination with multinational brand name textbooks? There are a ton of EFL textbooks produced locally in Korea that are catered to Korean students' needs and are actually pretty good. Nearly all of them use American style English and cover topics that are relevant to Koreans.
Matthew why does it have to be a series? Not all books in a series are equally good. You could pick various books and create an effective collection on your own.
You guys need to broaden your searches. |

And Korean publishers are not included in "and others," or "There are also a lot of different series for young learners from Asian publishers that deal with "American English"."
Point is... with no information from the OP to go on there is no chance of hitting the target
- there are too many publishers,
- too many levels and
- too many purposes
to just kick out an answer on a book series that deals with "American English".
And those "multinational brands" all have Korean branches for local publication and distribution.

The multinational brand name textbooks are just republications done by a Korean publisher. They contain exactly the same content in other countries, most of which is not relevant to the needs of Korean students.
Too many teachers select a textbook based upon brand name. They really should be focused on culturally relevant content tailored to Korean students. |

The majority of texts that have been in use over the last decade are/were by the major publishers.
He hasn't provided any further input to help identity the title.
It probably was published by one of the major publishers.

It is not about selecting an appropriate text for use in Korea or for use in the Korean context. If it had been then my reply would have been in that context.
Perhaps your horse is a little too high?
