So I go to the bank to get the certificate. Come home and add all the extra programs and get the certificate registered and stored on my computer, etc.

Then go to the customs website which recognizes the certificate and asks for similar information plus my address. Doggone website will not take my address. You get a pop-up which you fill out but it doesn't recognize my officetel. The website won't let me fill in the address manually.

BTW, I'm doing all this in hangul.

So all that and, at least for now, nothing.

I had a Korean do that part for me. She, a native speaker mind you, got stuck at exactly same place. My address was not showing up, couldn't enter anything manually. Tried a few variations and finally after about 45 minutes one of them worked.
Korean websites. I fucking hate them.

On that address search pop-up, the default input format expected by the system is that new 'street-based address' given by the gov., which is even more confusing and simply sucks.

If you know your address by the old style 'XYZ-dong 123-45' system, you need to find the Advanced Search ('상세검색') button, and toggle the '지번' as search criteria to proceed.

Building name search ('건물명') will be hit or miss, only the most significant buildings and/or apartment complexes in your neighborhood will be in the system, not every single building that has a name.

Is I herb blocking you from sending things to Korea now? I last ordered in early Feb and still got it through. So, not sure about now.

I haven't ordered this month yet, but since they're giving a March discount for using the customs code in March, it, at the very least, seems they really want you to use it.

I tried to look through the customs website earlier and quickly realized that I need to have an online banking number which I currently don't possess. Now it sounds like everything needs to be typed in Hangul on the customs site, and that if your address isn't recognized you won't be able to register anyway. Sparkling Korea!

You can use an online translator to cut and paste the hangul. And I found out that by filling in all the blank fields I was somehow confusing the search program, so just leave one field blank and it will work. Quite counter-intuitive.

But definitely a PIA.

I was able to make an order using my passport number yesterday so I'll see what happens before going ahead and attempting to acquire a PCCC. It states on the iHerb website that foreigners can use that instead, so here's hoping.

For what it's worth, I placed an order with iHerb last week simply using my passport number and got my package today. I believe it took a week exactly.

My latest order just arrived after two weeks and several live chats/phone calls with iHerb and CJ.

I went to all the trouble to get the customs ID number and my order was held up, according to CJ, because it was in quarantine for three days for a can of garbanzo beans and then because the name on my order was not exactly the way it appears on my ARC.

The switch to CJ is obviously part of the problem. It took three days for my order to get to the U.S. terminal and then three days from there to Korea. There was an article on this and the resulting complaints from customers in one Korean newspaper.

It's very rare that a good thing lasts in Korea. iHerb service to and in Korea seems to be another of those good while it lasted things here.

Nice. I just ordered the same way and was wondering if it would get held up in customs.

For those that have used your passport number, how long did it take for you to receive your order?

I find with Korean Post in takes about 5 days.
With CJ - anywhere from 7-10 days.
Not sure why the difference but I make a lot of orders and my orders put through CJ are most always delayed.
Using my passport...no problems with that at all.
