Hi there. Does anyone have any info on the GnB chain? Or even more specifically, GnB in Cheongju? It states in the contract that there are workshops and field trips which need to be undertaken as well as classroom time. Does anyone know what these might involve?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks |

The GnB chain used to be the #1 in Korea but they have all but disappeared.
I haven't heard much of them except that their textbooks made in house suck donkey's dick. |

Maybe it depends where you are.
I am in Jeonju and there are quite a lot of GnB branches round here. I work at a couple of different ones and both are decent. The in house textbooks aren't amazing but it's nice to have a textbook rather than trying to write my own lessons all the time!
I just do part time hours so I have no idea about any trips and I don't work on Saturdays. |

There are a few GnB's around here and I know a few people working at them right now. It likely varies by owner, but everyone that I know anyway gets paid on time and works from 1pm-8pm. The workshops and field trips are on Saturdays, but only happen a couple times a year. I have no idea what they actually entail. |

Find out which area it's in. I lived in Cheongju for a year. I don't know about the school, but I remember there being one school near my place in Sachang-dong. If that's the neighborhood, you'll be living the monk life. There's nothing around there at all. You might as well be working on a moisture farm on Tatooine.
But in Cheongju there's a Sachang-dong and Sacheong-dong. I can't remember, exactly; it's been quite a few years.
Best of luck to you. |

There's a batting cage there now and downtown isn't too far by foot. maybe a mile or two. |

Hm . . . it doesn't sound like the old part of town where I lived. I think that it's OK. I still wouldn't want to move back there - too small for me, but maybe Cheong-ju has more to offer these days. I lived there in 2006. |

I was there in 2007 and the GnB was across the street from my apartuh. The cage was kitty corner to the hogwon. There's also a gelato joint, some good BBQ joints, and some other attractions The Beatles bar shut down, though, and that anti-Westerner who ran the supposedly Westerner-friendly pub downtown across the street from the Mexican joint moved to the 'hood where GnB is. Hope somebody clocks the rat who runs the pub as he had 2 Koreans attack a tiny South African for a mere trifle in August of 2007. |
