It's actually better to NOT have a criminal record. |

Background checks are required for ALL registered teachers regardless of visa class.
E2s have it filed with immigration.
Other visa classes have it filed with the local MOE/POE office.

Why would you?
Once it is on file you are done unless you are outside of Korea for more than 90 consecutive days; at which point you need a new one.

My background check exceed the 6 month mark recently and I didn't file it with the Ministry of Education.
If you file it with them are you done permanently even if you end up not teaching for 6 months? |

You don't file it with them, your employer does. If you don't have a job this doesn't happen - you can't file your CBC with the MOE/POE yourself. So you have to get a new one, notarised, apostilled etc. |

If you're a stand up guy,and have 100% Italian ancestry a criminal background might help out with a mafia job. |

I gave my Canadian one to the local POE. Then, I have to go to the POE to get a Korean criminal background check done to renew the contract each year, along with panel interviews. |
