I am in desperate need of advice.
I have a valid Korean passport. I came to Korea with this Korean passport but it will soon expire and under new rule I cannot renew it.
SO I am assuming that I have to use my western nationality passport and claim an f4 visa.
Does anyone know/has had experience with this?
Is it legally straightforward renouncing the citizenship and passport that I used to enter the country? Or will I have to leave Korea with my Korean passport and re-enter with my western nationality passport aka Japan visa run? |

Renounce your Korean citizenship .... cannot be done within Korea.
A visa run and return on your western passport is an option then try to get the F4.
When you are IN Japan you can go to a Korean consulate or the embassy and formally renounce your Korean citizenship.
Is there no way to actually reclaim your Korean citizenship?

Sounds like the army has him in their sights, is it that easy to get them off your back and will you be able to? |

Yeah? Well, I had a one in two chance of getting it right.
If you haven't any 'pressing concerns' regarding legalities, I would be loath to give up citizenship - you'll never know when you might need it. |

But it's probably easier to find employment as a foreign teacher without Korean citizenship. |

If you're a female, I'd hold onto your Korean citizenship. No point abandoning it. Just look harder for your desired job, or be more open to smaller cities outside of the Seoul Capital Region. |
