Hello,

I just accepted a job in South Korea and will enter the country in June. What is the VISA interview like? Is it long? Is it intense? I got nothing to hide criminally or medically, but I'm so nervous one little slip up in answering a question or being nervous might send me packing back to America.

What basically happens during one?

Does anyone have any tips for preperation?

Were you told that you will have an interview? when I got my visa back in '11 I didn't have to do any interview for the visa... I just gave them my passport and picked it back up a week later.

No, just from my research for the E-2 visa, I thought there was an interview. Maybe I'm wrong. I know there's a medical examination. But I maybe there's no personal interview?

There is supposed to be an interview but as I understand this doesn't always happen. I wasn't interviewed and I submitted my passport and documents to the Korean embassy in Atlanta.

By all means prepare for it but don't be surprised if they approve your visa without it.

I had a group interview back in 2011 which was just asking us all some generally questions for about 10 to 15 minutes. It was like having a Sunday afternoon chat.

If you have to do an embassy interview, which is unlikely, just dont be freaky or hint at any red flags.

By the way, a pet peeve of mine: VISA is the name of a credit card. What you're seeking is simply a visa.

An embassy interview used to be standard for all first time applicants, however that was scrapped several years ago; now you will only be called for an interview if there is an issue with your application.
