My wife (Korean, currently PR in Canada) and two kids (both Canadian) will be spending the summer in Korea (almost 4 months total). My kids are 1 and 3 years old. Does anybody here have any experience with health insurance providers in K-Town? I'd like to have insurance so my kids would be covered if they require a trip to the hospital, etc... in case of an emergency. I'm not too worried about routine doctor/pharmacy visits as, if memory serves correct, they tend not to be that expensive. |

I guess I should add that we already have emergency out of country coverage through my employer-paid benefits, but that is for extreme emergencies (critical care) and likely wouldn't cover something like if one of my kids gets the flu and has to stay in the hospital for a couple of days hooked up to an IV (or something like that)...

Your provincial plan + travel insurance (good for up to 1/2 year).
Emergency travel insurance is good for up to 1 year and is pretty cheap ($2/day usually).
Blue cross has options for out of country coverage for the 1st 6 months.
More comprehensive insurance (full medical) is expensive ($300-500/month/person).
Routine medical in Korea is still pretty cheap unless you are going to the "International" clinics.
