Does anyone know of a cd / LP shop around Shinchon / Hongdae?

Before someone suggests looking for old threads I'll point out that these shops disappear quite quickly, there was one in Hongdae until about a month ago that has turned into a coffee shop I think, and another shop in the castle praha street in Hongdae / Sangsu also closed down last month (kind of an expensive imported cd / vinyl shop connected to a cafe).

I know about the hot tracks cd shop in Shinchon (near Hyundai dept store).

(hope this is the correct forum, sorry if not)

http://www.purplerecord.com/

Purple records is just up from Hongdae station. Pretty small. Dont expect to find anything too obscure.

Metavox is big and usually the first I would recommend. Go out exit 2 of Hongdae station and make a left, then make another left at the next intersection. It's on the second floor above a cafe (at least it was a cafe last time I was there.)

There's a cd shop on the main road going towards yonsei. It's next to the baskin Robbins iirc. There is or was a store in hongdae called turntable lab, not sure if it's still around. It's near monster pizza

I can confirm it is still open, but it does seem to have irregular opening hours.

Also every used bookstore I've come across has old lps. Not a great selection but fun to dig through.

Thanks for these suggestions, this is really helpful. I was a bit discouraged that the two shops I was aware of both closed down suddenly.

Also try the underground shopping areas near Namdaemun and City Hall, which have several LP stores.

I went to Metavox yesterday, excellent shop. Far more LPs than I expected. I hope to try purple records soon too. There was a brochure in Metavox, "Map of Record stores around Hongik Univ. area". I think it's outdated as a couple of shops mentioned have disappeared I think, but it mentions this shop:

http://seterecords.com/about/

Which is for LPs only. It says you need to enter a passcode (2323) at the front door of the ground floor. Interesting.

There's also mention of a shop near Hapjeong exit 2 called Toy Records, no website listed and I'm not sure if it's still there or not.
