I'd love any/all to come. Longest-shot dream, tho, would be Bojangles (a chicken / biscuits place in the Carolinas and some neighboring states). Maybe in 50 years.

What is with you going into threads and announcing "I DONT LIKE THIS! LOOK AT ME! ME! I DONT LIKE IT!"

No cares what you think Smithington. And I imagine you have got a fat ass.

Problem is the obese people I'm addressing don't just exist on discussion forums. I also see them on the streets of Seoul, and in the workplace, and frankly it's embarassing. It's not a question of me saying "look at me" but a matter of me (and Koreans) having to "look at them". Obesity is a massive problem in North American society. It's a health hazard and it's an eyesore. Fat Westerners in Korea wishing for more fast food chains to open up here is symptomatic of the problem.

And for the poster above to simply assume I am also fat speaks volumes. Such is the percentage of N. Americans who in fact are fat that he deems it safe to assume I am, too. And what is he basing that assumption on? The simple fact that I'm from North America.Confused

And that is exactly my point. Statistically, he is more likely to be right than wrong.

Smithington does actually have a valid point - even if he did raise it without sugar coating it. America is a grossly overweight nation because of the abundance of shite food and the social acceptance of it.
There are always Americans bemoaning the absence of some filthy junk food, whereas they should probably be grateful for the respite their body has from it. Enjoy a healthier lifestyle then go back home and pig out.
A couple of years without eating that stodge is a good opportunity to improve dietary habits, rather than trying to spread poor eating habits to other parts of the world.

LOL. It's not me "moaning" trying to walk up three flights of stairs. They should pass a law that all fast food restaurants must be on the fifth floor (or higher) of buildings with no elevators. Or on mountain tops.

And since you brought it up, my McCartney comment was reasonable. He's only coming here because he's washed up. I think Koreans will notice that and stay away. And adults starting threads about Avengers 2 is just sad. Watching the movie is one thing; starting a thread about it is another. I expect that from fifteen year olds, not grown adults. But maybe you'll luck out and there'll be a Dunkin Donuts or KFC next to the theater. How great would that be? You can discuss how awesome Thor is while chowing down on your 'super-sized' burger, fries and coke.Confused

Would love to see a Wendy's or Denny's. But the problem is that it will localized and just won't taste the same.

Yes, they have Dennys in Japan, it's just another boring family restaurant, hamburg steaks, bland pasta dishes and sticky rice as a side, not a sniff of the massive calorie breakfasts, ice creams and pancakes they have in the American ones.

The Wendys are very good tbf but they've gone from a 100 odd stores a few years ago to just two both in expatty areas of Tokyo.

Nando's- All my friends from SA always go on and on about Nando's.
Rally's & Blimpie- SE Michigan fast food shout out

What would rock most of all is the salad bar at Whole Foods.

You can tell this is sort of an old-timer thread. No one is mentioning Five Guys or Smashburger or any other of that new stuff.

I'm not American.

We all know fast food is unhealthy. But every now and then is fine. Korea hardly has a wide range of international cuisine. So any addition is a nice thing. I haven't tried 3/4 of the list, but what's the issue with talking about it?

Paul McCartney is washed up? 72 years old, still touring the world. Could play a stadium gig in any city on earth. He is part of probably the greatest songwriting partnership of the 20th century and will be remembered and studied long after you and I are dead, our children are dead and our grandchildren are dead. Music is subjective, but you can not deny him or his career. The reason he hasn't been to Korea before is because no one came to Korea. It's a recently a decent number of international acts come here. Most legacy acts, Springsteen, U2, Rolling Stones etc, have never come. It's hardly a lucrative market for Western music.

In conclusion, you don't know what you are talking about.

Sorry, for the massive derail everyone.

Speak for yourself. I'm not fat all. I am somewhat slender. I actually became overweight in Korea, funny enough. I slimmed back down, though.
I don't really eat fast food often, but I wouldn't mind an IHOP or a Denny's. I definitely like Wendy's, too. A lot of chains closed down when people weren't used to Western fare. How's Taco Bell doing outside of Itaewon? I know Koreans are gravitating, more-and-more, towards fully accepting Mexican food.

Define SE Michigan.

I'm from somewhere in that area and I love Rally's also!

I'd love a White Castle. I'd even settle for the frozen White Castle burgers in a grocery store somewhere.

I would have laughed at that years ago. I'm not laughing now.
