I think I saw this answer before but I have searched the Immigration and HiKorea websites and can't find any information on the subject so I just wanted to ask again to be sure.
I will want to change from an E-7 to a D-10 after this contract is finished.
Contract completion date : July 31
Present ARC validity : August 31
So when I do need to put in the application for the D-10? Is this called a "Change of status" or an "extension"? On the websites I see anything from 2 months before to one month after the contract date. I will be going to Thailand on July 1 and would like to stay there until August 7. So ideally I could apply for the D-10 in the second week in August, but just want to make sure it doesn't have to be done before the actual contract expire date July 31.
On another note, I'd love to get the full 6 months out of the D-10 visa, so the closer to the August 31 date I could apply the better.
Any knowledgable replies / experience are appreciated. Especially if I could know the correct terminology "change of status"/"Extension" ... so I can find the related information on the immigration website is much appreciated. |

As long as you have all of the correct documents you can do it the day before your visa expires w/o any problems.
(I haven't done it from an E-7, but I would assume it is the same process as when I did it from an E-1 last year, but you might want to call just to double check)
I had a similar situation. Visa ended in Feb sometime, I went home after my job finished in December, came back a week before the visa expired and had no problem switching to a D-10 and then back to another E series a few weeks later. |
