Hey everyone, I've been offered a position with Maple Bear and the contract starts at the beginning of August. The entire process of applying, scheduling an interview, and relaying updates has been very straight forward and quick. I'm going to accept the offer, but i would like to read some feedback about the Maple Bear franchise. Thanks!

I've never worked at one but I've visited a few to check them out and I've met people who worked at a few branches. It seems to be a good school and a good place to work.

There's one in the same building as my hagwon. Staff all seem happy enough, one guy is in his 3rd contract. They seem pretty decent about vacation time, I know they got Labor Day off (no other hagwon near me did), plus I think they got an extra day over Winter break.

I have a friend working at a branch of theirs in Seoul that I would absolutely advise you to stay away from. Maybe the others are alright, I don't know, but this one particular branch to which I am referring is not ok. PM for details & specific location.

I have checked out the Daejeon contracts and helped others that worked there before and it is not the best. Not the worst but I would look more. They really like to hire couples. Plus it is kindy with some bad hours.

The details are in the contract.

I have an interview with them tomorrow night for a position at their Incheon location. It would be my first job. Would love to hear about more people's experience with them, thus far I've heard mixed things. The pay seems okay especially considering I have no experience (2.3-2.5), the hours not great (9-6 Monday-Friday), so yeah idk. If they offer me a job I'll probably take it.

If I get sent a contract and speak to other foreign teachers at the school I'll report back to this thread with findings.

At the particular branch I worked for I'll list pros/cons.

Pros:
-Always paid on time(yes, that's still a pro)
-The management staff was excellent. They always got what we needed for the classroom and skimped on nothing.
-Paid for flight and return flight.

Neutral: Your co-teacher can make or break your year. I had a wonderful co-teacher and we were on the same page.

Cons:
-LONG teaching hours. I was teaching 30+ a week and you get exhausted.
-The after school program is lacking and wasn't terribly engaging for you, or the students.
-A lot of prep is needed.
-Like most kindergartens you have to eat lunch with the children and you barely get a chance to get away for a break of you own.
