Tutoring the kid next door doesn't cut it as teaching experience. |

Umm…sorry to disappoint you, but I never said anything about tutoring. I actually haven't tutored privately that much, though it be good experience to earn. I was teaching classes at Day, Montessori, and Preparatory schools. While the law does not require that you have a degree for those, it's strongly advised. I just got lucky with what were at first temp jobs. The kids and I worked well together, so our time was extended into contracts. |

okay. I didn't know if it was legal to teach in a public school or a state licensed school in the US at the age of 17. |

I don't know about public (you're probably right), but I taught at private schools - Preparatory and Montessori and then later at a university. |

Do haggie bosees, recruiters, and Korean immigration have such a track record as to warrant trust? Not really.
OP, you sound like you will do well here. Where is the job? Seoul?

Just got to love the OP's post. He doesn't trust his future employer, he doesn't trust his recruiter, and he doesn't trust the Korean government but he does trust a bunch of unknown people online. I'm caught between laughing my ass off and |

| I'm not sure why people are razzing you, OP. Your concerns are legit, but I think you've likely crossed all the t's and dotted all of the i's on your paperwork. Also, your experience will make your job a lot easier than it was for those of us who hopped on the plane with no teaching experience in a classroom. It sounds like your school made a good hire and I wish you the best of luck and a great adventure. |
