If you have a Canadian license can you rent a car in Korea or do you need to obtain an international license or trade in yours for a Korean one?. Also can I rent a car if my Canadian license is expired? I want to go to Jeju and rent a car there but not sure what my options are. |

Are you currently residing in Korea? If so, you need to get a Korean license. If you are going to Korea for a short trip, AFAIK, you'll need to have a valid Canadian license along with the IDP. |

How long does it take? Is it just a written test? Where can I take the test in Seoul? |

You can rent with an IDP. But you can only obtain it in your country of origin and your original license will need to be valid as well. Not only when you apply for it but when you use it. However, if you live in Korea as a resident (you are on a visa other than tourist) you should have a Korean license.
Exchanging your license depends on where is your original license from. It can take as little as 1 day to do it but I'm not Canadian so I don't know in your case. And your Canadian license will need to be valid at the time of the exchange.
FYI, many companies won't give you a rental car if you had your license for less than a year. |

I am canadian.
I simply walked into the li encing center with my canadian drivers licence along with a document from the embassy confirming it was a valid licence and exchanged it for a korea licen e.
I had to fill out a form and do an eye test. Tbis was 2 months ago |
