Hello, I was wondering as a Korean American, can I go to Korea on an E2 visa and then change my visa status to an F4 after a month? I ask because my parents havn't officially renounced their korean citizenship therefore I cannot obtain my F4 until that is done which takes 3 months. I however got offered a job and plan on going with an E2. I want to change to an F4 once the renunciation is all done. How easy would it be to do this? Thanks. |

Once your parents have formally renounced their Korean citizenship, there will still be a lag in the system. No telling how long it will take for all the right buttons to be pushed, but I would guess that applying for your F4 right after your parents do their part will not yield you good results. I would suggest going ahead and taking the job, then once you have been in the position for a few months past your parents renunciation of their citizenship, you should be good to being the process of getting your F4. Good luck.
To answer your original question as to the ease of it, there are some family registry forms that must be filled out and money passed over the counter for application fees, but in your case it will not be a hard process UNLESS the person working with you wants it to be. |
