Best place to buy cigars is: http://www.coh-hk.com/index.aspx
I order from there. They never get stopped at customs and arrive
within 3-4 days of ordering.
BUYING CIGARS IN KOREA IS A RIP-OFF |
That is a fact! Do not buy 'em in korea! Buy online! |

Any chance of reviving this thread? I am also looking for a nice cigar store in Seoul, ideally one with a smoking room where you can get a nice glass of whiskey with it. Any reasonably priced cigar bars would be amazing too. I''ll start compiling a list here, I think. If anyone would like to contribute, I would welcome it. I'll try to add information on pricing, accessibility, and whether they have a smoking room!
So, so far:
Havana Cigar Divan & Bar Grand InterContinental Seoul (hotel) near COEX: First floor, 54 seats, large humidor, smoking room that serves wines, cognacs and whiskeys.
Directions: Get off at Samsung Station Line 2. And go to exit #5 connected directly to the Grand InterContinental Seoul.
Hamilton Hotel Shopping Plaza in Itaewon: 2nd floor, High quality shop, but expensive.
Homeplus in Jamsil: Good selection, seemingly lower prices?
Maska's Cigars in J.W. Marriott Hotel in Banpo-dong: Works with Seoul Cigar Aficionado Society
Directions: By subway, take Line #3 or Line #7 to the "Terminal Express Bus" subway station. Exit out of the subway using exit #3 and that will take you out to the front of the J.W. Marriott Hotel. |
Sorry, I don't see the point in going to the above places. Especially
the hotels. People who frequent hotels are usually only there for a
few nights and have someone else paying the scandalous prices.
Homeplus, really? Not the garbage monger homeplus where I live.
Do you really wanna sit and have a whiskey with the Hamiton Shopping
Center cigar ajuma? (Well, if she gave free cigars I could be coaxed
into doing anything)
Nice places to have a cigar? Gecko's Garden is serene. But any bar
with the exception of WOLFHOUND will let you smoke cigars. Wolfhound
is crap.
But I have to agree with Cohiba. http://www.cigarsofhabanos.com/
is the best. It is actually Cohiba's second rule. I ordered a box of
Hoyo de Monterrey - Epicure Especial on Monday. Mmmmmm. |

Old thread, but I thought I'd toss this into the ring. I have a spare pair of Davidoff stainless cigar scissors if anybody is interested. Got another pair as a gift and don't need two (ok...4...I have the mini version and the gold handled versions, too...overkill, but I collect cigar stuff).
Retail is 470 bucks, a lot by any measure. Asking 200.00. Can meet in the Twon some Friday or along the Green No. 2 line most days.
Also have a lot of high end ashtrays from Prometheus and Perolo (very cool), and a load of cases. E-mail at pragic@yahoo for pics if interested. |

Just an fyi on the cigar shop in the hamilton shopping center in itaewon. Last time I was there I was looking to pick up a few Monte Cristo #4's. The first box was crawling with tobacco beatles. She opened a second box, looked good at first but, sure enough, small holes i the cigar wrappers and tiny insects crawling around the bottom of the box.
I believe this is caused by improper storage. Either too humid, too warm or both. |

Not the first time (or year) I've heard this. Personally, I think that place is way over priced to begin with, but it's conveniently located in a pinch.
No way I'd put anything from there in my humidor after having heard about the beetles, though. Best you could do would be to refrigerate the stogies for a few days, then hope that they're dead. |

Surprisingly enough, buttfukk Chuncheon got a great new seegar, pipe and rolling tobacco store in the underground market of the main shopping district.
They are part of a chain, this one:

It's only in Korean, but 13 stores scattered around the wonderful, sparkling peninsula. Kangdong, Songpa, Nowon, Eunpyeong in Seoul, according to the website. |

There is (or was?) a stogie bar in Kyoungridan in the Twon. Think the name is 'BURN'. Not sure if it's still going.
Never been, largely because I've heard you have to buy your cigar there to smoke there. I don't mind paying a bit more for a good dram of hooch or a decent beer or vino when I kick back to enjoy a nice cigar, but I'd much rather smoke out of my own humidor.
If they've changed that policy, then someone chime in and let us know. |
