|
Leaving in August.
What if I would like to visit Korea next year on a tourist visa and still want to use my bank account and credit card for purchases? Likewise I want to keep my phone number active.
Possible?
Phone number
Bank account
Credit Card
Stock account
Driver's License
Anything else?
Yes? No?
Thanks! |

I left a bank account here for six months without touching it and it was there when I came back 2000원 and all. |

You can keep it all but the phone number will probably die before you return due to non use/non-payment.
Just make sure you keep a copy of your ARC (scan it and e-mail it to yourself) so you can deal with the banks on your return.

Phone number, bank account, credit card, and driver's licence should be ok.
Before you leave, ask about switching your phone to prepaid. Keep adding the minimum credit to it from online to keep it active. |

If you've signed up for a long-term phone contract, make sure you've paid the remaining balance.
Can someone tell us the penalties for not doing this?
I've heard that your ARC might get red-flagged if you have outstanding debt (unpaid phone contract).
Do foreigners have credit in S. Korea when they establish bank accounts, etc?
Of course, the minimum would be being red-flagged by the phone company for not paying off the contract.
I'm asking because I have a 500,000won phone contract I haven't paid since I've left. |
