My next door neighbor complains when security or housing comes in on short or no notice. Its understandable. I don't mind so much because it is always when I am out, and not a big deal. In our case they always knock, and if you are not ready for company, they leave.
But she was grateful that they had a key when she went away one evening and forgot to blow out a candle. There was a small fire, the alarm went off and security did their job. All sorts of things can go wrong- electric shorts, gas or water leaks. The landlord needs a key. When I used to manage a building we had to call in a locksmith at the owner's expense more than once because they had changed the locks and not provided us with a key.
My students never come in if my office door is locked. But I teach at a university. |
