Good evening all. I used to post on boards regularly over 10 years ago. In 2005 I got smart and moved to China. I'd recommend anyone still in Korea to do the same.

With that out of the way, please help me out here. I've become friends with a couple of expat 70 year old Brits who own the best wine bar in Macau. Lifelong travelers, they left England in 1965 (when they were only 20!) and missed the best that rock n roll has to offer. Basically they became jazz and folk fans and any rock song after 1965 just doesn't register with them.

I grew up on rock and have become a recent fan of jazz. I figure if I can go one way, why can't they go the other? To that end, I've compiled a list of the 50 best rock/punk/alternative albums of the last 50 years.

Okay, that's only actually 46 albums. I'm 4 short. The last album is 2004 which shows my age (I'll be 37 soon) but is that because rock is dead or I'm too old? Either way, I want to know your suggestions. Let me know where my list is short and where I need to make improvements. I intend on giving them on iPod that contains all of the music that I ultimately choose.

Stone Roses The Stone Roses 1989, Oasis Definitely Maybe 1994 or What's the Story Morning Glory 1995 and at least one Smiths album, probably The Queen is Dead 1986. Maybe a Queen album or Fleetwood Mac Rumours 1977? No Beatles album but three Doors?

Man, those 70s.

Recently there's not much rock and roll worth a damn, but there's some. I like Ex-Hex - Rips and The Afghan Whigs - Do to the Beast. Older Afghan Whigs albums like Gentleman, Black Love and 1965 are probably more list-worthy though they did a damn good job with this one despite the 16-year hiatus and there only being one original member left.

For some more recent stuff, you need some Radiohead and/or Arcade Fire IMO. OK Computer by Radiohead for sures.

Deep Purple, Sabbath, Metallica etc are a little heavy for me. I get it. It's my problem.

I'm gonna check out the new stuff like Arcade Fire. It's too bad rock died after the 90's.
