Hi there... looking for visa advice if possible.

I plan to spend the back end of the year mostly out of the country, likely with a couple of short weekend visits to Seoul. I will be applying for University or Public School jobs to start in February/March 2016 (and hopefully winter camps in Jan/Feb).

My current contract ends on August 31st. I'm on an E2 visa which expires on September 31st. I'm trying to avoid having to resubmit all the apostilled bullcrap multiple times. Planning to move to a D10 visa; however you can't be out of the country for more than 90 days with the D10 before you need a new apostilled Criminal check.

My plan is as follows : Extend my E2 visa by 30 days (taking the validity up to October 31st); and then switch to a D10 visa valid for 6 months. I could then be out of the country for a maximum of 90 days after October 31st. Does anybody know if that will be possible?

Thanks!

Unless you are working the E2 extension is not possible.
The extra 30 days on an E2 would be as a tourist...

E2 to D10 then extend the D10 or get a new E2 before the D10 expires.

Thanks Ttompatz, very useful. Hopefully I'll be back on an E2 or E1 before the 6 months runs out on a D10, looks like I'll need to do the criminal check again unfortunately but at least the other documents should hopefully be OK!
