If you have a bit of savings ($5,000) It might be better off to get your own place. The school will probably give you a shoebox, or 400 a month.

5 mil won deposit + 400-700 thousand won a month. That's ghetto.

I guess it comes down to this.
Live in a 16 pyeong,2 bedroom in haebongchon for 600 per (lose 200 a month)
take the school 8 pyeong 1 room apartment
If I have a wife and a kid, I don't even consider the 1 room option |

If you have 15-20 grand for a deposit. GL without that, unless you want to spend half of your paycheck on your house. |
A quick craigslist search shows at least a dozen ads posted since yesterday of a 2 bedroom for 550-650 k a month with a max of 5M deposit. |

Can it be done = yes BUT....
Your fiance/BF will NOT be able to get a visa (point made above).
Living accommodations that are supplied to entry level EFL workers are SMALL (15'*15' to 20*20).
Renting a place for a newbie with no understanding of Korea is NOT a good idea.
All of that said... If you do decide to do it then:
1) find a job as a single, employable EFL teacher,
2) come over, get settled and get the lay of the land. (there is nothing worse than landing in a bad situation AND having your family with you to worry about).
3) AFTER you are comfortable and settled here (and have your ARC) then you can bring your child over on an F3. Your B/F will have to settle for a tourist stamp and run to Japan every 90 days if he wants to stay here with you. This will put a squeeze on your finances (4 flights to Japan every year).
