An employment agency using Seoul Craigslist posted my resume online (without my consent).

I asked them to remove it and they deleted it from the search facility on their website. It still comes up on google with the link attached to their homepage. Google cannot remove it as it's still live on their website. I've spent 2 weeks explaining that it's still live and not being deleted.

I tried the police but they said they don't have jurisdiction. I've asked them to get an IT professional to remove it. They say it will cost W200,000 (for someone they know*) to do it and they're not going to pay. I asked them to check if they can get someone cheaper, and I gave them a list of web developers. They reluctantly said they'd try. They are very difficult to communicate with and are undiplomatic.

I really want it off the internet.
Any advice?

Did you contact Craigslist? Maybe they can apply a little legal pressure or block their IP from accessing other's information.

I'm not sure what exactly you should do, but perhaps consult with a lawyer to apply some pressure?
Quote:
Free legal consultation every Tuesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Itaewon Global Village Center. Labour law consultation on 2nd and 4th Tuesday also. Other legal matters (not employment cases) on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month. Appointments required. To make an appointment, submit the application form and any other required documents by 3PM of the Friday before the consultation day. Application form: Go to the Seoul Global Center website - Click on 'Useful Links"→ “Publications”. Tel: 02-2199-8883. Email: [email protected].

Or could you go to this employment agency's office (or call them) and just tell them you are seeking legal counsel. That could be enough to frighten them into removing the data from their website

Thanks for the suggestion about free legal advice. I work on Tuesday mornings. The police told me it's not illegal to put someone's CV online. I think they wouldn't care if a lawyer called them.

While asking for that money they still refuse to accept the resume is on their website. The weblink (found in a Google search) starts with their website so it's surely on their site.

I might contact Craigslist, thanks for that tip too.

They mean its not a criminal violation. You might still contact a lawyer to explore civil remedies.

Very costly and time consuming option. Retaining an attorney? Pursuing litigation? In that case, just pay the tech fee for removal and be done with it instead.

Go to the dudes office and sjhreik and yell at him. Humiliate him and keep it up until he removes it. Also, defaming is pretty much a non non here. So, you could prob sue him. But, it's cheaper to friekout and scream at him. It seems in Asia whoever yells the loudest gets their own way.

It's possible that they deleted it from their server and still appear on google because google saves the data in its database.
can you open that link and still see the CV without "google" word in the address bar?

anyway try these:

Thanks for the suggestions. It's surely not a cache anyway and google say it's still live. There's no mention of google in the webpage, just the company's own website is at the start of the link. I found different web developers who can do it using PC remote control in an hour - it seems like he won't work with them though (cancelling appointments etc).
