Dr. Oliver Sacks, the neurologist who studied the intricacies of the brain and wrote eloquently about them in books such as Awakenings and The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, died on Sunday at the age of 82, the New York Times reported.
The British-born Sacks, who announced in February 2015 that he had terminal liver cancer, died at his home in New York City, his longtime personal assistant Kate Edgar told the Times.

He was probably a pretty interesting guy if you're someone who likes neurology or the quirkier aspects of science generally. Can't say any of that ever had much appeal to me.
The obit says he fell in love with a writer named Billy Hayes at the age of 77. Is that the same guy who wrote Midnight Express?

^^ I guess it's not the same guy. Apparently, this is the Billy Hayes Sacks was in love with. |

He wrote some amazing books. You might have also seen the film Awakenings with Deniro and Robin Williams, based on one of his books. |
