How long does/it take to get your passport back?
The US Embassy in Seoul has a message on their website
that it is taking longer than usual to process renewals. (for ALL passport renewals that are sent from abroad.

Have you renewed your passport in the past few months?

How long did it take to get back?

Did you use a special courier service or regular mail?

You have to use 1 of the two special courier services. The embassy won't accept passports through regular post. I got my passport renewed 1 and half years ago and it took about 1 week, so I imagine maybe 2 weeks to get your passport back.

I renewed in 2013. Took about two weeks...maybe a little less. Pretty sure two weeks is normal, so if it's taking longer than that...I guess...3-4 weeks?

You might be better off just starting the process rather than holding out for an answer someone who's done this in the last few months.

For the courier, make sure you have the necessary cash on hand to pay them. Think it was about 8,000 won.

I renewed in January. I went down there to speed up the process and turn in my old passport and paperwork. Took about a week to get it back. They had a screw up... and it was a real pain in the butt

Depends. I applied about December 29th and got it back around January 12th.
It goes to DC, so it takes a little time.

From what I have heard they are serious about doing this quickly, unlike getting a visa for a foreign spouse.
