Anyone know what the latest deal is with E2 visas?

If Kimmi has seen your apostilled degree before, do they keep it on file? If so, how long for?

I have an E2 that expires at the end of this month. My contract has finished already and I'm in that useful '13th month' period. I will be out of the country in Japan from this Wednesday until likely the start of January (although I may pop over for a weekend to visit at some point).

While I *could* get a D10 visa, I'm increasingly thinking that it would be easier and cheaper in my situation to just start again with new documents in January; however I want to know if I would have to resubmit yet another apostilled copy of the degree (which Kimmi have seen and should have on file at least three times already)?

Having spent this morning at the Immigration office finding out the details, it will basically be quite a lot of hassle to get the D10 being as I leave so soon; it will cost W130,000 to get and the same again to change back to E2 when I get a new job, and because I'll be out of the country for over 90 days I will have to get a new apostilled CRC regardless (not difficult in the UK but still expensive). Makes me think the D10 isn't worth it in my case, but a lot depends on if I have to resubmit the degree certificate...

Why don't you get a Police Check from your local police station in Korea as CRCs need to be at least 6 months old and considering you are returning in January 2016 it will still be valid. Unless there is a silly rule stating that your CRC has to be issued from the UK despite a police check being less than 6 months in Korea.

Perhaps another member could confirm this is the case.

If you leave Korea for more than 90 days, whether on a D10 or not, you will have to start the document process anew.

If you are out of Korea for more than 90 days you need a fresh set of documents for the new E2 application.

This means a new CRC from your home country (with apostille) AND a new "certified true copy" of your Degree with an apostille.

Sorry to hijack the thread but this question is related to some extent. If you break a contract, is there a waiting period before you can come back to Korea to teach? Getting new paperwork is a given.

Yes, I knew about the CRC needing to be redone from my home country (ridiculous as it's essentially proving that I haven't committed any crimes in a country I wasn't in at the time... but that's K-logic for you!)

The 'certified true copy' of the degree is what I was wondering about - It's ridiculous that Kimmi are incapable of keeping that on record, since they've seen it several times before and it clearly isn't going to change.

Just another thought... If I'm personally out of Korea, but I get a job offer and have the employer or recruiter apply for a new E2 visa issuance number WITHIN 90 days of leaving - Would I still require a full set of new documents?
