Busan Climate Action is a non-profit NGO.

We expect to run at a loss in funding this festival;
in the unlikely case of any net profit all proceeds will immediately go toward seeing more great new films supplied with subtitle translations:
The Yes Men Save the World; This Changes Everything; Racing Extinction, etc.

- Mods/ Admin: These films all reflect directly on life in South Korea;
even the US-made movie helps explain the importance and relevance of the first, Korean title.
[Mods and admin, please leave this up until after November 7.
Thanks!]

Come see these two excellent Korean movies with English subtitles on modern life in urban Korea,
and catch up on the Cowspiracy with a Korean-speaking friend;
Korean subtitles are included in this movie now produced by Leonardo DiCaprio.

An Omnivorous Family's Dilemma (Korea, 2014) starts off the festival on Friday night at 7pm.
A very Korean movie, it is a slice-of-life tale: it is a screen capture of a functional family undergoing change;
it is a meditation on modernity, and the unquestioning assumptions we live with,
and how they can be challenged by looking again even just at our relationships with each other.
Add into the mix a bit of conflict: is it ironic when a veterinarian has never even considered being vegetarian?
Unintended humor beautifully wraps up this fascinating and very personal film project.

Bike , City (Korea, 2015) screens at 3pm on Saturday.
It takes the interview approach to looking at the question of transport emissions,
sometimes from across a desk, sometimes from across the space between two bicycles out on the road.
It also examines the very real ease with which one can already cycle through and across the big capital city,
and follows people celebrating daily the freedom two pedal-powered wheels can bring.

Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret (USA, 2014) starts off Saturday's films at 1pm.
"You can't be an environmentalist and eat meat and dairy." Or can you?!
This slowly, quietly, hugely influential movie is a sleeper hit;
over the last year it's become renown for convincing people to
adopt plant-based diets overnight, and convert
successfully established restaurant menus to all-vegan options only.
A great blend of sit-down and (literally) in-the-field interviews, with facts, figures, and a large-sized tub of truth:
if you've ever wondered about the third, forth, and fifth reasons for going veggie, they're all right here.

All tickets are w10,000, including the festival launch party:

and all ticket sales are online or by bank transfer only.

Thanks, Busan Haps!

And good on you, Bill Nye. Arnie does pretty well here too:

... although maybe this special could have done with just a touch more on the impact of how the fossil fuel industry has been so successfully undermining public understanding of the science for so long.

... But then again, there IS another movie and book dedicated to that:
