1. Bring lots of clothes! (Girls bring lots of undies, esp. bras)
2. Don't sweat the small stuff.

I have no idea what that means. But I am sure we (Mankind and I) are both well-intentioned.

Always have a backup plan if things don't work out. A plan without a backup plan is no plan at all.

When faced with a potentially stressful situation, ask yourself one simple question...

"What would Clint Eastwood do?"

I've always preferred WWJD - what would Johnny Rotten do?*

Advice I have 2

1. Ignore everything you read by panthermodern or in a thread strated by panthermodern.

2. Go to work and shut-up for 6 months to learn a little about how things work here. Just watch. Helps a lot in the long run.

Great advice...a couple of questions:
What's with the Yoda-esque intro? Why should everyone shut up? Why are you "right behind me"? What are you doing back there? Should your nick be Kindman? Hehe...j/k BTW.

When you first arrive at IIA, and reach for that big bottle of water at 7/11~ read the label first to make sure that it's not soju. Shocked

Shit, or get off the pot!

If approaches you and tries to strike a deal on the subay, tell them to go to Halifax!

If you have bad news to give your boss and it can wait. Try not to give it in the morning. Wait until later in the afternoon to tell her, and then run like hell!! Shocked

Well mostly because what you say here can have a very different affect than it would back home. Totally different culture. I'll give you an example:
The lesson you get sucks bad. The kids hate it and its tough to teach. You try to be helpful and tell you boss. "This lesson doesn't work." He smiles and than suddenly the next week he's really shit towards you. You can't figure out why. Later on you'll find out he made that lesson, and you are now on his permanent shit list. You were just trying to help, sometimes better not to.

It's better to take around 6 months and figure out what is happening in korea, between co-workers, the boss.... Learn the relationships and especially how your boss thinks (it'll be very different) before you say much about them. Learn what people want to hear and than tell them that. It just takes longer in Korea than it does back home.
