How and where does one acquire a "certificate of job history?"

Korean employers are legally required to give you one for each of your previous jobs in Korea so you need to ask them for one.

Sometimes Korean places ask for this (especially Unis) for jobs that were not inside Korea so you should try to make something in roughly the same format and get your former employers to sign and date it if possible. they will usually still accept it.

This is a 재직증명서 in Korean (approximately "jay-jeek-jeung-myung-suh"). Follow that up with the ol' "juseyo" and you should be in business.

I got a contract completion certificate from jobin China plus a letter of recommendation. I also got a written letter of recommendation from jobs in Korea. It's not always possible to get these certificates in retrospect, but do the best you can. As a general rule employers want to see this:

Something on company letter-headed paper
Something with details about the work you did and the duration.
Something that your supervisor/line manager has actually signed.
Something with the name, address phone and e-mail of the previous employer.
Do the best you can.

They asked me to get an employment verification document for my time in Korea through some service called Say Kimichi. They're the only recruiter who asked me for this info, and of course, it costs money. What makes it seem even stinkier is the fact when you go to Say Kimichi's site, they offer a discount if you're coming through Koriva.

Feels like kickbacks are going on, and I'm paying for recruiting.
