Could be worse. It was 1440 to the dollar (cash rate) back in Nov 2008.

I remember when it was 2000 to the US dollar.
I also remember when it was about 700 to the US dollar.
I am old. |

Bingo ... My life went on as usual, either way.

I am too. 700 was happy times--making 1.05 million with housing I sent home $1000 per month. Only trouble was they paid us in cash, so I had to be careful not to blow the money. |

My wife, and the main breadwinner of this small family, is involved with safe investments overseas and she is quite worried about this bad exchange rate. She said that the exchange will be bad until this summer or winter. I'm not going to move somewhere else, so it doesn't affect me, my wife and son, but this heavily affects my friends teaching English and German here. |

One silver lining for those living and teaching here may be that less teachers will consider coming here with the poor exchange rates.
That should help secure better/more jobs you would think. |

Yes, it should help the teachers in Korea already, in terms of competition for jobs. But new graduates need to realise this. South Korea is a fascinating country, but it has never been a paradise. |
