I had a guy at the pub last night say that immigration informs our school when we leave Korea after our contract is up. Is this correct? I'd never heard of this before. Surely immigration's only concern is that it (immigration) knows that we've left the country. What interest would they have in informing anyone else?
Just thought that was curious. Never heard that one before. |

I have found that immigration cares nothing outside of what they need to give a visa. And they are up to their necks doing that. They don't care about informing hagwon owners or even public schools when a foreign teacher leaves. That's ridiculous. In fact, it's been my experience that they really don't care about these educators at all. Just give me the docs I need. |

The only thing immigration cares about is foreigners not breaking any major laws, and that they leave the country when their visa is up. Anything else they wouldn't care, or even have the time for. |

Well, I beg to differ. I had an incident where a hagwon completely lied to me about most clauses, esp housing arrangements, in a contract. Granted, this is not leaving, it's more like trying to fix a BIG problem when I arrived...and I'm SO glad I didn't have to complete that contract, or do another 3 or 6 or 9 or whatever runner, and have to wonder whether I could be rehired in the same province, blah, blah, blah. "You must never do this again or YOU WILL NEVER WORK IN KOREA AGAIN!!!" is what kimmi told me. Me? "Uh, I didn't do anything wrong. I was lied to. Completely. I saved and printed out ALL the proof for you to EASILY see. See? Oh, right. So, sorry. NEVER AGAIN!!!" J@ckA$$es. |
