When I read or hear of such stupidity.....childish behavior, ignorance...
As much as I enjoyed my time in korea, I hope and pray that the U.S. pulls out completely, which they won't do, but at least relocates far south of the Han river and then maybe the north will.....
Too many people in such a small country. We need population control.
War is bad, but good for the economy. Koreans, you are your own worst enemy.
It's time to be leaders, not followers. Get with the times. Monkey see monkey do has got to stop. |

Well not only did they take up arms to fend off the North but their asses were completely saved when America (U.N) stepped in to push the encroaching forces back. What was it? 5-7 years prior to that where America ended Japanese occupation in Korea as well??? I'm baffled by Koreans short and revisionary collective memories. If it weren't for America, Koreans would be sitting in their cardboard wrought shantys wallowing in their own piss drinking saki all day. |

Well, considering the way the Korean economy is adapting to the 21st century, it won't be long until they're "sitting in their cardboard wrought shantys wallowing in their own piss drinking" soju, or more likely, mao-tai. |

If I had been there, I would have walked straight to the nearest McDonald's and ordered the largest meal I could safely stuff in.
Any Korean who actually likes that song probably would not be worldly enough to appreciate the irony. |

I agree...its high time for the bluff to be called and the American soldiers to go. Send them to Iraq or somewhere more important.
I couldn't care less if S.K suddenly became a suburb of outer Pyongyang. Its time koreans faced reality...and the natural justice of the world.
I almost hope it will happen...and that the U.S doesn't lift a finger next time. |

| Not sure I have ever heard that song. Far as I recall though it has always been attractive for Korea to blame whatever problems it has on other countries. IMF. I think they're mostly too poor at English to realize how awful and offensive the word "pucking" is. Ah, what can ya do? Nationalism and xenophobia remain strong in people still angry and fearful, like teenagers from abuse-filled childhoods. |

Lest anyone think this is anything new, allow me to regale you with my favorite story about Korea. It comes from the Annals of the Choson Dynasty.
According to historical documents, the first elephant was imported to Korea for the first time in the year 1411, during the early Choson period. A Japanese king sent an elephant in 1441 to King Taejong, who ordered it to be sent to a government department to be taken care of.
One day, a government official named Yi Woo visited the site where the elephant was fed by the government employees. Yi thought it was a very strange animal. So he yelled and spat at the elephant. The animal got angry and trampled him to death. After this incident, the Minister of National Defense officially made a request that the animal be exiled, which King Taejong granted.
The first elephant in Korea went into exile on an island in Cholla-do and lived there for six months.
