I posted a message on his home page and got a reply...apparently the part about "inappropriate scenes" wasn't a word he had used in the interview, and he said that he has no intention in making foreigners look bad in the documentary, which is supposed to be about Koreans and their outlook on sex, how things have changed recently and so on.

I thought that was a funny looking Korean word. Had not seen it before. Then again most kindergarteners can read better than me.
By the way, what is an "inappropriate display of affection"? The world is so full of hate that some people hate to see affection? Unless "inappropriate" means what most people think it means and find a bit offensive. |

There was a wonderful quote a few years ago about how Asian males are slowly becoming sex symbols in North America. One of the stats to back this up was the rise in the number of Asian male/white female couples.
An Asian female columnist had to point out the hypocrisy in this stat. Her quote below:

Back home, I knew (and knew of) several "mixed" couples in which the husband/boyfriend was ethnic Korean and the woman not. I think that's normal and only to be expected, especially where the men were born in or had grown up in the U.S., were culturally Americans and there were no chance of these oft-heard bogus "cultural difference" concerns. That said, there is all too often the hypocritical gnashing of teeth on the part of the man's immigrant parents.

She's right, of course.
I got flamed some time ago for pointing out that there is a very real social dynamic here where issues of race, gender, and power intersect, but it certainly does exist. |

What I kind of hate is the double standard regarding white men who date outside of their race and white women who date outside of their race. I know a lot of white women who will "only" date Latino men, Jamaicans, what have you. People don't accuse her of having a fetish. People just go "Oh that's what she likes."
But then switch it to a man that will "only" date black women or asian women and suddenly the guy has a fetish. People kind of look at him like he's some kind of freak who is into submissive women.
But if your tongue was hanging out every time a big breasted blonde walked by and you were shouting "yo baby come back here and let me taste you" you'd be judged by society as being completely normal. Just your average red blooded male.
I will grant you there are a lot of sickos who are attracted to asian women and only asian women. It's like they were dumped on prom night by a white woman and now they view dating asian women as some kind of message to all white women kind.
But then there are just as many guys who are the type who, in a crowded room, actually notice a woman with short black hair and smart looking eyewear over a long haired blonde.
Just my 20 won. |
