It's coming up around £500 one way with china southern airlines. Lufthansa to Birmingham is coming up at £836. That's a lot for a one way flight.
Cant you get a flight for £350 one way?

Check skyscanner, expedia, kayak, google flights etc, and make sure you use an incognito browser, as this can stop the flight prices going up if you keep searching for the same thing. You can get very cheap flights, just try a few different departure dates as it can vary greatly. Also look at round trip, occasionally these are cheaper than one way.

The cheapesr flights usually go out of London, and have a couple of stops, so it depends where you're flying from and how long you want to spend travelling.

Also find out from your employer how your airfare is being reimbursed - if they're reimbursing you a set amount, say 1mil, that gives you a little over £600, but if they're reimbursing whatever your ticket cost, go for the flight with the least amount of travel time.

When I came to Korea I flew from Belfast, which is always more expensive than the UK mainland, and I flew Belfast-London-Shanghai-Incheon with China Eastern, mainly because they had twice the baggage allowance of any other airline, and my ticket was £387, but that was 4 years ago.

Those prices I said were off expedia. I think skyscanner is cheaper but I didn't look. I don't need a flight out, the employer is paying it. I just want to know the cheapest way back if I need to buy my own ticket back. is it worth flying to Bangkok with Airasia from Busan and then getting a cheap flight from Bangkok or can you get just as cheap flight directly back from seoul?

A lot is going to depend on how far out you book, what season it is, and which day of the week you are flying on.

That said Kayak is showing one way ICN to LHR for $383 flying on Monday Sep 5th. That's about 280 gbp.

You're looking at twice that if you are flying short notice and need a ticket for next weekend.

Kayak is a fairly popular site for booking travel (flights, trains, hotels). They run your request through a number of travel search engines and then give you a choice of which flight to book. Vayama is quite similar.

Pretty impossible to know the cheapest way back with no idea at all of the date of travel as airfares fluctuate so much. The best thing to do if the situation arises is to check all the flight comparison websites.
