Im going to put my Sprint account on hold or whatever they call it when I leave, so i will not be using phone or text services or otherwise have an active account when i arrive. Am i able to connect to WiFi networks in korea? (To tide me over until i get a korean phone.) Sorry, I left in 2010 and didnt have a amartphone yet. Also, i have a samsung, do you know if it is possible to use my device to get a korean data plan?
Thanks! |

WiFi: Yes.
Using your Samsung Sprint phone with a Korean data plan: Maybe.
This topic has been covered extensively both here and on many, many Facebook discussions. It depends on the phone, whether or not it is unlocked, what type of SIM the phone uses, if it's network compatible (LTE, GSM, CDMA, PIZZA, etc...), and how lucky you feel the day you attempt to set it all up.
If I were you, I would cancel the Sprint service (put on hold? Why?) and use WiFi until you get an ARC. Then attempt to use your current phone (what have you got to lose?) and if that doesn't work, get an egg or buy a phone here in the Korea. |

Thank you for your response. I did perform multiple searches before posting, but whatever terms I used didn't seem to work. I appreciate your help. |
