Since I got married last year, and due to a lot of teasing from my wife, I have discovered that I am a rather 'picky' eater (my wife's way of putting it, though I prefer the term 'particular'!). I have this habit of selecting foods that I really like and then eating them until I never want to see or smell them again in my life. Anyways, I was just curious to see if there is anyone out there that does the same or if there are any new instant foods that I should be picking up on.

I am pretty busy so my diet is usually based on instant stove top foods or takeout. The following are stages that I have gone through and cannot return to:

Tunsyook - sweet and sour pork which I ate, for dinner, probably 3-5 times a week for my entire first year

Mandu of any variety - same as above but for lunch not dinner

Sol Ro Man Yang Nyum chicken - chicken in spicy/hot sauce (boneless!) which I ate perhaps 2-4 times a week for about 1.5 years.

Bibim Neng Myeon - stove top cold noodles which I ate all last summer and then some

Chopaghetti - instant jja jjang myeon; same as bibim neg myeon

Cheese ramyeon - ramyeon with a couple slices of process cheese and an egg, using rice to lap up the remaining juice at the end, which I've been eating for the past 3 months

Yeah, I overdid mandu for a while. Couldn't look at it for months. Now I am up to enjoying the samples at Homeplus. Who knows, it may be mul mandu for dinner any day now.

I did the same thing with Bimimbap...I can hardly ever eat it any more. I go through food phases too with mandu and kimbap and jja jja myeon. My current favorite is also cheese ramyon! I thought it would be gross but my girlfriend insisted I try it...mmm. Now I've been eating a ton of olives and cucumbers with small chunks of mozzarella cheese...mmm

Hmm, don't they also come with a fried-egg on top and a bowl of jjampong soup? It was one of my favorite Chinese dishes in Korea. Yummy

Properly named, Bokeum bap is just the fried rice and jja jjang bap is bokeum bap with jja jjang sauce but I believe I've seen some chinese restaurants use the names synonymously, though, they err.

Kimchi Mandu ... mmmmm

I was also a fan of those instant meatball/beef burger thingies, until I overdid it and made myself sick.

Ahhh, the bachelor life.

Yeah, we're pretty big on bulgogi pizza and spaghetti from the local '007 Pizza' too. I wasn't always big on Korean pizza - too much cheese and not enough sauce or salt - but this place really ROCKS!

Ohh. KD. You bad man. You don't know how to spell fried rice in Korean and had to be corrected by someone who themselves then gets the definition wrong. Shame on you KD. Learn how to spell!! Wink Wink
