i've been writing report cards in a PC bang for the last hour or so
and the guy behind me was playing richard marx "right here waiting for you" on repeat. (well i know it's not KPOP but it's just as asinine and annoying.)
i started playing this song on repeat.
he stopped.
i am a brilliant strategist. |

That is damn funny. You really should however get an internet connection at home, it isn't expensive and it means you can avoid that whole hideous PC bang scene.
If all you do is basic stuff you can pick up a computer here for next to nothing. I'm selling a basic though complete set up soon. Head over to the buy and sell in a week and it'll probably be on there for a bargain price. |

Oooo!
Way to teach them for not having your taste in music, those bad people.
Especially those KOREANS who insist in liking K-POP. Shocking turn of events, that is... |

I think you are being a bit harsh Blind Willie.
I'm sure you've been in the PC Bang and and it is just the same song over and over loud enough to drive you crazy.
He was just exacting revenge and giving some back.
You accuse people of being socks and trolling but remember don't throw stones at glass houses.

yeah blind willie, way to sound like the fat comic book store owner on the simpsons.
if k-pop had more than five songs that were popular, then maybe it'd be more tolerable.
i've noticed it here too-that people listen to the same song OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. read my post - he had one of the dreckiest, most retarded songs in the history of music ON REPEAT. it's an OCD thing, not a taste thing. there is no reason to listen to the same song, no matter HOW good, 10 times in a row.
five songs i could stand to never hear again:
that "hot-diggadigga hot-diggadigga hoooot" song
that song that has "sayyyy goodbyyyyyeeee" at the end of the chorus
that hiphop song that goes "wooot wooot.... wooooooooooooooooo!"
the version of "last christmas" by wham! that has the chipmunk-voiced girl singing
it blows my mind that people have national pride in the first place, but to have national pride about crap like kpop... i just don't get it. it seems like koreans feel they are fulfilling some civic duty by playing Kpop. the same could be said for massive soju abuse too.
it goes well beyond any cultural relativist argument. poop is poop, regardless of location. and richard marx sucked in 1989, he still sucks now. sorry.
and yes, i'm ranting. go make love to a 2x4. my 'bad korea day' is almost over. |

Well, that will teach me to download music when I don't have any idea what it is. Man some people have issues But yeah, I never got why it was ok to blast your own music in room full of people. Then again, it's that who cares about anyone else around me mentality. One of the many reasons I went over to Yongsan and picked myself up a computer of my own. One of the best things I ever did here. |

LMFAO!!!!
That song was hysterical.
I haven't been in a PC Bang in over two years because of those jerks blaring music and cranking 'Star Craft' up to an ungodly volume.
FYI. I do like one Korean group: Ju-ju Club. They broke up but the lead singer still performs solo under her name, Ju Dae-In.
Cheers! |

Musical and cultural arrogance doesnt require it?

I accuse socks and trolls of being socks and trolling. For me to be a sock, I'd have to be hiding my ID, which I'm not. And for me to be a troll, I'd have to start an inflammatory thread and then not contribute to it except to fan the flames. Which I'm not. Learn the meanings of the words before you use them.
I admit to being overly caustic, but that's the worst you could accuse me of.

The comic shop guy is an arrogant nerd who disdains people who don't have the same tastes as he does. Thus, if I were acting like the comic store guy, I would have said the following:

Which is what you did.
Since you're in Korea, and you've yet to make this connection, I'll have to make it for you: In Korea --- Korean music (K-pop)--- is popular ---- with Koreans. Simple enough, right?
I did, that's why you got the response you got from me. Is this complicated?

See, when you post an opinion on music, and then claim that your opinion has nothing to do with it, you make yourself into a liar. And there's enough liars around these parts as it is. Don't add to the problem.
The guy liked the song, and if he wants to listen to it again and again and again, it's not your damned business.
What exactly were you trying to prove with your little act? No one should be allowed to enjoy the music they enjoy around you? That they shouldnt dare have tastes different from yours? That you're an obnoxious fool with the maturity level of a 16 year old?
Because most people, should they find the song of their neighbour too loud, would simply ask them to turn it down a bit. Or in Korea: Mime "Shhhhh" at them.
Was difficult for you to do? Must have been. |

That's what I was gonna ask. I'd do report cards while sitting in front of the TV or something. Sheesh.
As for waging war on crappy music, I'd just put on Space Streakings and turn the volume up to full. Or perhaps use my noggin and complain to the PC bang employees. |

blind willie
check the seoul classifieds to see if there's a debate team in korea you can join... as it stands, your impeccable cut and paste arguing skills are wasted on people who think you're a goof.
my report cards are all done on computer. school's closed on weekends. therefore... i hit the pc bong. |
