Yeah, that was a pretty vicious lampooning of the typical ethnocentric expat on my part. I was on fire the week I wrote that.
And, if I were a person like that, I'd be furious at it.
Thankfully, you're not a person like that... right?

Isn't this the poster that wished all of us teaching here got nuked? |
Indeed I did. It was very mean of me to say that.

As a newbie, I may not know much about Korea, but I can smell trouble a mile away, and I suspect that would be you. |
As a newbie, how did you know about what you just posted about me, and be interested enough in me to go through the effort to link it to this conversation?
|
I was thinking the same thing.

Don't worry, your time will come. Or I'll eat my socks. |
If you are hungry, we may have found a sock for you. |

It suggested that maybe it would be healthier for some of us to get away from the computer and go out to actually
explore this place. I assume that it was directed at some of those posters with hundreds if not thousands of posts. Good advice. |

While I do agree with the sentiment that people should get out more and stop trying to experience Korea from their computer, why do people tend to assume that people with lots of posts are losers? |
Because they need to get out and get a life? |

Or back to an earlier post of mine is that we only have 4 hours of sleep a night and can afford to post this much.
Maybe some of us dont live in Seoul so we have already been out sooo much and dont mind the quality time behind the computer |

Aha! A lack of sleep and people who think they've done it all and seen it all. That goes a long way towards explaining the frequency and questionable content of some of these posts.
My advice to newbies: Get out there, experience Korea first hand. Don't be an armchair traveller. Use this board for the good info it can provide, don't use it as a social crutch. |

Well yes do use it as a social crutch. If you have just arrived in a place put out an ad saying is there anyone in that area. Especially if it's a big area.
Also there are a few people here who organise things like going to Football (soccer for you foriegners) and going drinking. |

That's all subjective. Some people think going out to the bars every night is a life, and others think that practicing martial arts or joining soccer is a life. Then there's the guys and gals who spend their time with significant others. Assuming that I have no life because I have 2200 some-odd posts on a message board is pretty asanine... |

That's about it.
What some see as a cool way to spend your time in Korea others see as boring.
Or others have been here a few years so the call of Itaewon or Hongdae becomes less attractive.
Oh, and drinking is not cool per se. It's just fun!!! |
