I have made Xs on my Calendar for the past 7 months. I can't wait to finish this job. 5 more long months! Argh! |

Yeah I do the same. In my work diary I cross off the days. Only 8 more to go for me
Its a good feeling looking back over the days you have done, can be awful looking at the days too come though. |

You poor guys...I'd just leave if I was that unhappy. Life's too short. if you're not enjoying it, your teaching will be bad also... |

No doubt rapier. There is one other group that I know of who regularly does this "X"ing....convicts.
They, however, have no choice but to wait. |

last year I was marking the days.. but I love my current job (even the bad days here are far better than good days at my last place) so time just seems to be flying by/ |

Making Xs on the calendar is common for some people in particular places.
Marking off days is popular in prison, right? |

Thanks for the advice rapier, but I'll think I hold out these last 8 days for the last pay and severance. 8 divided by last pay equals roughly 450000won per day, my work place isn't that great but I'm gonna see it out. |

Me too exactly. When I feel bad I think about my first job. The difference between hagwons can be the difference between night and day. |

I've been crossing the days off since I moved into my new place. The foreign teacher that I replaced left a really nice and big mural Korean Navy calendar and he was crossing off the days, so I have just kept on doing it.
No reason other than that really, so far the job has been fine and I am in no way counting down the days until it's over.
It even helps me prepare me for my usual first sentence for every class: "So what day is it today?..." |

My first year here I did it. I crossed out days in the back of my diary, so it wasn't right there in front of me all the time. I could tell when things were going really well because I would realize that I hadn't crossed off any days for a while, and would have to go back and x out two weeks.
This time around, it didn't even occur to me to start. I don't know why, I seem to be having a lot more problems with this job than my first one. |

Really? What's so bad? I'm six months in and I'm fully prepared to be here for a minimum of 2 years (assuming my on rather shaky ground school lets me re-up). Even now I begin to look at the world around me and think how much I'm going to miss it 3 or 4 years into the future. |

Ditto Rapier.
I crossed out the days of the last month of my first contract.
To do so any earlier was to drive one mad...not to mention that it just makes it longer. |

What you should do is start counting down the classes to go. The you will see a more rapid drop. |

My first job here was a pisser, and I counted the months, usually on payday. The last two weeks were stressful, and I was counting the days, the hours, etc. It makes time crawl. I was checking the clock every 5 minutes in class, waiting to be finished teaching. Basically, I hated it. The stress can be overwhelming. Really, find something else to do, something interesting. I suggest martial arts (cause that's what I did/do to keep the voices away ), it's good for exercise, and getting out/expressing aggression. Great to kick that sandbag while imagining the face of yopr boss/student/ex/whatever. Plus it's everywhere around here. |
