Sparkles i have a soju suggestion.

Get the maeshil soju. A little more expensive at about 6000 a bottle but a lot smoother doesn't taste too bad.

My fave whiskey here in Korea is "Something Special" I think it's just the comic relief of going to my fridge after a long day and thinking "hmmm...i think I need a little something...Something Special" It's pretty cheap too. can't remember how much though.

Alcohol is alcohol.

I'm not trying to be profound here. The flavoring is just packaging.

If you need some alcohol to sleep, then there is no reason to spend more than about W1,000. Just dump some in some orange juice or other flavoring in a half cup of soju to kill the taste if you don't like it straight. I don't recommend adding it to Coke after 8 pm because the sugar and caffein might keep you awake.

Doctor Squid prescribes:

Minimum dosage:

1 tallboy of Hit"er" Prim"er" per person per night.

Summer's a comin' and I need my end of day cold one.

PS stupid things ex-girlfriends have said No.1... "I think you're an alcoholic", after I put a six pack in the fridge. She didn't last much longer than it.

Sparkles, I think that good pillows are the best sleep aids, much better than likker.

Wouldn't you agree?

I'm with Dr. Squid on this one.

Dr. Buck prescribes one OB Lager tallboy per day, and on those hot, humid days, days of hell and hardwork, treat yourself to one of the plastic jug fatties that just came out.

I knock one of those back at night and the next morning I'm on the river the river at sunrise castin my line in the water. No problems.

I disagree. Different kinds of alcohol have different effects on your brain. Wine gives me a headache, whisky gives me a pleasant glow and sense of well-being, and soju, which I drank (1/4 of a bottle) last night, made me feel like I'd been shot with a tranquilizer dart.

Still, I slept fine, and no hang-over. But I'm not happy, that's for sure.

I like whisky, dammit!

Yes, but you said that your goal is to fall asleep, not to get warm and fuzzy. Drink the soju, whitebread.

we're actually doing quite well, thanks for asking) I have decided to stop buying 1L bottles of Jack Daniels twice per month. This decision was my own. Really. It is not what my Silent Protest thread is about. Really. I figured that the money saved could be put to better use.

I have yet to figure out what that better use will be, but I'm sure it'll be a dinger. Maybe I'll start "saving for the future." No time like the present, right?

I figured "why not give soju a spin?" It's cheap as hell.

Wifey was VERY enthusiastic about this self-decision. I was a little frightened, to tell the you truth, like a kid forced to take medicine he doesn't think will taste too purdy. And soju doesn't taste too purdy. It tastes like backwashed vomit.

I guess I am in the dissent here, but if you are doing well, then I don't see how two bottles are really setting you back. It sounds like the drink at night is how you relax and mellow out.... Is it really the alcohol you are needing, or is the connotations of the type of drink? All drinks are not the same.

Hey Sparky, nothin' wears you out and puts you to sleep like a marathon session with Wifey...

Just a thought.

I drink more in Korea because my friends here like to go out often... but back in the States, every night I would have one Guiness while eating dinner and then one while watching whatever game was on that night with the boys. Two beers, no more no less. Did that for a year and don't feel guilty about it. The question becomes, are you drinking because it tastes good or are you drinking to change how you feel?

See? Ryleeys knows the value of pillows.

Knock off the sauce!
