I saw some posts on another board referring to the search option as being an open door for attacking a site. But what site doesn't have a search button? Are they all vulnerable to mischief? I think some goofs are trying to puff up themselves by claims based on wishful (vengeful) thinking. They are trying to capitalize by claiming to be responsible.

Can you do a search for all vowels or the alphabet, all posts and bring down a site (for example)? Can you input a virus? If so then the writers of this popular program have some work to do. Many sites use phpBB.

If not then the idiots claiming to be responsible (and there are a few) are just the silly imps they appear to be.

I was told by a very reliable source that it was hackers. I believe it, especially since I fell victim to it myself when I posted something and instead of what I wrote, some other message that was filled with hate mongering crap was posted. I couldn't edit it or tell anyone what had happened. When I emailed Dave Sperling about it and asked him about the hacking, all he said was, "who told you that?". Can lack of denial be considered a confirmation?

Anyways, immediately following this posting that I made, my firewall started deflecting a shit load of strange activity which included packets that contained some nasty trojans and scripts. I rebooted, cleaned my internet tracks (cookies, etc.), and everything died down.

I agree. But is it true? Is that what happened? Or is Dave's explanation of software and hardware upgrades the truth. Who hasn't had that problem?
